Top Airports in Sydney for Private Jet Travel

Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport (SYD)

Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport is the country's busiest airport, handling the Sydney area and serving more than 30 million passengers annually. The airport has three passenger terminals and holds historical value as one of the oldest continuously operating airports.

Plans include dividing into two airline-alliance-based precincts providing regional, domestic and international aviation services under one roof.

Bankstown Airport (BWU)

Popular with vacationers for private jet travel, Bankstown Airport specialises in general aviation. Located approximately 22km from Sydney's CBD, it features three asphalt runways and is operational 24 hours a day.

The airport is home to private aircraft, maintenance businesses, charter operators and helicopter flying schools. Its main runway features precision approach path indicators and intensity edge lights.

Camden Airport (CDU)

Camden Airport is open for general aviation and is located approximately 60km from Sydney's CBD. It serves as an overflow aerodrome for Bankstown Airport and supports ballooning, gliding and flight training.

The airport has two glider strips plus an asphalt and grass runway, operating as an ICAO Class D airport with a non-directional beacon navigation aid.

The Oaks Airfield (YOAS)

The Oaks Airfield is a private airfield originally constructed by the Royal Australian Air Force during the Second World War. Today it caters to recreational and private aviation activities.

It has three grass runways but no runway lighting, so flight activities are best carried out during daylight hours.

Wedderburn Airport (YWBN)

If you are planning to land somewhere in Wedderburn, this airport is the perfect choice. Located in the outer rural suburb of Sydney, it is suitable for private jet charters as it caters to general aviation and small recreational category aircraft.

When using this airport, your aircraft must not exceed 4,000 kilograms and daytime visual flight rules must be followed. The airport is equipped with a single asphalt runway and up-to-date weather information can be acquired from the nearby Camden Airport.
